A dumb 18 year old kid in Arizona thought it was a good idea to outrun the cops in a motorcycle.
A man who police said led them on a chase at speeds of over 100 mph on his motorcycle last week said “it seemed like a good idea at the time.”
Police had their lights on, and an officer reported seeing Gerardi look back as the officer was getting out of his vehicle. Then the light turned green, and Gerardi took off.
“I thought about it for a second and thought, ‘I’m probably going to be arrested anyway,’ ” Gerardi said. “It seemed like a good idea at the time . . . I thought I could get away.”
Hopefully this kid learned his lesson.
Gerardi, a freshman at Gilbert Chandler Community College and a sales associate at a motorcycle shop, had a status hearing on Wednesday in Maricopa County Superior Court. He pleaded guilty to a single count of endangerment, a Class 6 felony, and a single count of criminal speeding. He is scheduled to be sentenced this month and is expected to receive one year of probation and see his license revoked for one year.
