Apple Store In Rio Rancho at "The Village"?

The City of Rio Rancho approved a Tax Increment Development District (TIDD) for a shopping mall called The Village at Rio Rancho. The outdoor shopping mall would be located near the recently built Cabezon subdivision where they are building the Presbyterian Rio Rancho Medical Center. The shopping mall is described by Flickr user sebypires as “similar in concept to the ABQ Uptown Center in the uptown district in the Mid Northeast heights area of Albuquerque”

ABQ Uptown is the location of the sole Apple Store in the Albuquerque area and if The Village is similar in design, I speculate that this is where Apple would build a store. There needs to be an Apple Store on the west side of Albuquerque (for those of us that frequent them) and as a citizen of Rio Rancho, having it actually in Rio Rancho is even better.

Like most projects planned for the city, I am skeptical. This project is planned to start the summer of 2010 so I will soon see.

Apple is proud on you. You’ll have to pay for this shot ;-)))

I am really just confused about that lined light dots … are interesting but disturbing at the same time as something hard to recognize and connect – I assume that are just another reflections (from light on the floor??? oh, in what dimension are we? 🙂 … I find it finally as not so good element on this photo, but it seems to be only …

(ups, there is more 😉 – I don’t understand scene – that glass area above the apple sign … I thought it is on rain as i see deformed building above it … but now I see that is half of building lighten by sun and that are no clouds on the sky … mysteries …

Nice to see a new perspective on something that I have been seeing the same old shot of recently. The rain is a nice touch as it puts the building out of focus so as to not fully draw the eye there.

However, the vignette is way too dark, and it doesn’t even look like a real vignette would (mainly the shape). I would tone down the opacity so that it is barely visible, but just enough to keep the eye in the frame.

  3. @EssPea: thanks for the feedback — this was my first fake lomo attempt and I can already tell that the technique is going to need some fine-tuning!

@fotosynthese: maybe I’ll go back on a clear day. But it was still a zoo two days after opening, so maybe not.

  4. See I don’t think that this picture needs a ‘fake lomo’ addition to it. Its just a trendy technique that is ‘in’ right now and (just like HDR) many people are using it on all their pictures no matter if it betters the picture or not. I am all for its use, but not when it detracts from the original picture.

In this case I suspect the original picture is quite good enough to stand on its own without the benefit of whatever trendy technique is the current trend around flickr.

  5. Good composition. the central building really works here. great reflections especially the squares of spotted light. i like the effect with the rain on the roof blurring the building in the background, great stuff. i like how you’ve burned the picture in slightly, it works well to focus the attention of the onlooker.

i was gonna give you a 7 but i’ve decided i like it in an 8 out of 10 way. it doesn’t blow me away, but i do like it a lot.

  6. This is a potentially interesting shot and I like the composition, but I don’t think it has been well executed. I really think the lomo/vignette effectt hurts this overall. The blurring of the building by the rain is nice, but the Apple sign doesn’t really seem to be in sharp focus.

  7. I like your picture. The effect on the building due to the wet glass is very nice. I also like the lights reflected in the glass, and the composition. The s mmetry is also nice. The Apple logo could be a little sharper though.
