KRQE has a story about 1 million dollars of diamonds being stolen out of a car in Albuquerque.
North Carolina jeweler Peter Kaplan was in town this week to show his rare jewelry to a local retailer. On Wednesday about 10 a.m. he and his wife made a three-minute pit stop at the Walgreen’s on Carlisle and Menaul giving the criminals all the time they needed.
If I had a million dollars of diamonds in my car, I would not stop for anything for even a second. It would be from the safe to the location and that’s it. I think I would even hire an insured armored courier to transport them.
To make the story even more interesting, they found a GPS enabled phone in the rental car. They think it may have been used by the thiefs to track their victim.
