Some Groups Don’t Like Intel

AMD isn’t the only one that dislikes Intel. Some Jewish persons don’t like Intel too..

Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox Jews have demonstrated at Intel Corp’s new electronic chip plant in Israel in protest against work taking place at the site on the Jewish sabbath.

The protesters said on Saturday it was a desecration of the Sabbath, which runs from Friday night to Saturday night.

They were dispersed by police and a company spokesman said the plant was operating within the law and would continue to do so.

Intel, the world’s biggest chip manufacturer, opened the west Jerusalem plant for installation work before its inauguration on Sunday.

Where these people don’t like Intel for religious reasons, some in Coralles, New Mexico think Intel is poisoning them.

Please understand that the new chemicals that are being used up there are causing illnesses as serious as we had in the 1990s. Vison is blurred, eyes are burning and skin is peeling off the eylids. One breath of the toxic air causes choking, coughing and in Patricia’s case gasping for air. The toxins collect in her west side patio and in her house. With me it settles all around my property and comes in the house. This morning my eyes were swollen shut and inflamed I could hardly see. Each day my vision seems to be getting worse

I should note that the State of New Mexico cleared Intel of making people sick in 2004 but that decision was very controversial.

Anti-Socialist Protest Fire Stations

September 16th, 2009 Greg Smith No comments

I thought this was a joke.

The Group “Angrytownhall” is holding live protests at libraries nationwide, and in downtown Los Angeles on 9/24/09. The “Flamer” movement” aims to protest socialized social services in America, beginning with fire stations. The group has added over 14,000 members in just one month on its Facebook group and is a rapidly growing political movement.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2009 — On Thursday, September 24, citizens from Los Angeles will join concerned citizens across the United States in opposition to ongoing taxes imposed by America’s socialized fire services, and gather to promote individual liberty, privatization, and free market principles.

Our police, our Medicare, roads” said Angrytownhall President Troy Conrad. “We’ve decided to bring awareness to the rampant socialism in America, starting with our nation’s fire departments.” With over 14,000 members on its Facebook page, “1 Million Strong Against our Socialist Fire Departments,” the “Flamer” movement is a ‘grassroots organization’ intent on keeping taxes low for the American people by privatizing of 100% of America’s fire departments by 2011, then moving to other social services.
“We have too many people who are tired of paying for their neighbor’s fire, when they’ve had no fire. We want our America back,” observed Conrad. The protest is expected to draw thousands in Los Angeles, and tens of thousands nationwide. Los Angeles-based ‘anti-socialism’ protesters will rally in front of the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles at 3 p.m. Local residents are encouraged to attend to show their ‘opposition’ to socialized fire services. For instance:

A pilot light is a pre-existing condition. Why should neighbors be forced to pay for carelessness?
The USA hosts the best fire departments in the world, but that doesn’t mean that just anyone (i.e. non-U.S. citizens) should be able to dial up and have fires put out, without first giving a valid credit card.
There may be a secret order to let houses more than 65 years old burn if on fire.

Obama Speaks At My High School Tomorrow In Mesa, Arizona

February 17th, 2009 Greg Smith No comments

Update 02/18/09: View video and more news on this event from Channel 3 in Phoenix.

President Obama will speak at Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona tomorrow. I graduated from Dobson High in 1992.

Apparently they announced it monday morning and people rushed to the school to get tickets. Obama will be speaking in the school’s gymnasium which holds about 2000 people but there were only 400 tickets released.

ronaz08 on YouTube has a video of his sons waiting in line on Monday which shows at least a 1000 people lined up.

It’s interesting that Obama chose the state of Arizona, where McCain is a senator. Obama apparently didn’t inform or invite McCain to the event. The other senator for Arizona couldn’t change his plans.

“That’s too late for me to change my plans,” Kyl said. “In any event I wouldn’t be speaking. I would be standing there while he’s announcing something that I know nothing about. The time to talk about these things is before the fact, not after the fact.”

Of course, there are protests being organized.

Although I don’t miss living in Arizona I might have planned a trip back home if I could have acquired tickets for the event.
