Before I start the review on this movie, let me ask one thing. If a theater expects to make any money off their over priced food, they should at least put enough people at the counter so that you can get them before the movie starts. I stood in line for 10 minutes, and it didn’t move the whole time. I had to ditch the line to get to the movie on time. Now, on to the movie review…
What to say about Gigli? At the very least wait for the DVD (rent, don’t buy). Don’t take your kids to see it. This is the first time I ever thought about getting up and leaving a theater. The Wall Street Journal said it was “the worst movie of our admittedly young century”. I wouldn’t go that far, but it was pretty bad.
The beginning of this movie is very very slow. I mean it is so boring to watch what was going on. Ben Aflack is suppose to be some hot shot hired thug, but he is much to much of a pretty boy to be believable as that. For that mater so is Jennifer Lopez, on both counts Actually the best character in this movie is the retarded boy.
I can’t figure it out what this movie is suppose to be. A boy meets girl love story, a romatic comedy, a GoodFellas mob story, or something I-don’t-know-what-else. It certainly tries to be all of that. Neither Aflack or Lopez’s characters have any balls to be GoodFellas type characters, Yet you are led to believe that is what they are. Al Pachino is the only one I believe is a bad guy mobster (and he was in this movie). There are some funny parts, but its not worth the pain and agony of actually watching the movie to see it. I couln’t barly stand to be in the theater when Afleck tries to tell Lopez’s lesbian character why he is so great because he has a penis the Lopez tries to tell him why women do it better than men. Uh, OK. I didn’t want to hear all that. I guess this isn’t a date movie either. Maybe this is a “Man finds his inner lesbian” movie. Maybe it was as bad as the Wall Street Journal says?
You will get more entertainment reading the reviews.
