I admit to watching Saturday Night Live and while some shows and skits are better than others, I wouldn’t have expected MacGruber to be one of them to be made into a movie.

The MacGuyver parody started being filmed in Albuquerque starting August 31 and stars Will Forte and Kristen Wiig. New Mexico native Val Kilmer will play the villain and no word if Richard Dean Anderson will be in the movie.

The MacGruber movie will be released April 16, 2010.

Dean Martin Is On The Do Not Fly List

Since I’m doing a lot of traveling right now I pay extra attention to airline travel related news. I found this story about the name “Dean Martin” being on the Do Not Fly list.

This situation was found the hard way by the State Treasurer of Arizona Dean Martin. Who thinks it’s politically motivated because he doesn’t get along with the former Governor of Arizona Janet Napolitano. Janet Napolitano now runs Homeland Security who is in charge of the Do Not Fly list.

It seems odd that Homeland Security would put such a common name on their list. Actually the whole concept of the Do Not Fly list is odd.

Stargate Part Two And Three

This is interesting, looks like they could make sequels to the original Stargate movie. It would be interesting to see how they make it work with the TV show. It would suck if they didn’t follow the same story line.

Dean Devlin, co-writer and producer of the original Stargate movie, told SCI FI Wire that he has struck a production deal with MGM and is developing the long-delayed sequel feature films that will pick up the story from the 1994 original%u2014but not the mythology subsequently elaborated on in the SCI FI Channel original series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Devlin added that he hopes to enlist original stars Kurt Russell (Jack O’Neill) and James Spader (Dr. Daniel Jackson), who have expressed an interest.

The Underdog

I always find it amusing when the main stream media completely misses something. Sen. John Kerry’s success in Iowa and New Hampshire is one of those misses. I think there was a lot of focus on Dean and Clark as leading contenders for the Democratic candidate. Personally I like to root for the underdog, because they can often get in there and stir things up.

Kerry is very popular in the eastern US. But I question if he is as popular as he moves to the west. Just having the positive face time with his wins is probably enough to get the rest of the country to give him a second look.

Personally I like Clark, I think he has the experience and track record as a leader. Not that the other candidates don’t have their good qualities as well. In fact overall I’m pretty impressed with the candidates verses previous elections. My opinion may change if I see “attack ads” however.

They’ve got 48 states to go, anything can happen.

(note: I’m no political analyst and may be completely off base. Feel free to correct me.)
