Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Dr. Evil

This last weekend the Starz Encore movie channel had a James Bond marathon in which they showed all the James Bond movies (In HD). James Bond spends his time, especially in the early films, chasing SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion). These are The Bad Guys.

In You Only Live Twice, Ernst Stavro Blofeld is revealed to be the ring leader of SPECTRE who conveniently looks just like Dr. Evil from the Austin Power movies. Of course, the Austin Powers movies are a parody of the James Bond movies but it’s not until you actually watch all of the Bond films that you can really appreciate the parody.

Donald Pleasence is the original actor and most iconic of Blofeld, the one which most resembles Dr. Evil. Blofeld was also played by Telly Savalas, Charles Gray and Max von Sydow.

Blofeld had a white fuzzy cat where Dr. Evil had a skinless cat. They both wore nearly the same outfit and Blofeld escapes at the end of every episode, until he us killed at the beginning of For Your Eyes Only

Of course, all of this information (Ernst Stavro Blofeld, SPECTRE, James Bond) is available on Wikipedia.

Possibly releated: with the appearance of Daniel Craig as James Bond the franchise was rebooted, as they say. So what were the other actors after Sean Connery considered? Was it a continuation of the same Bond time line? If so then Pearce Bronson need to be around 70 years old.
