Bob Denver, Gilligan, Passes On
September 6th, 2005
I saw every episode of Gilligan’s Island, at least 10 times. It was my favorite show as a kid. I made it a point to learn the lyrics, both versions, of the show. So it’s quite sad to hear that Bob Denver (Willie Gilligan) has died today at the age of 70.
Unsurprisingly he died of cancer. Alan Hale Jr., known as Skipper, also died of cancer. Jim Backus (Thurston Howell III) and Natalie Schafer (“Lovey” Howell) have also died. The remaining cast including Tina Louise (Ginger Grant), Dawn Wells (Mary Ann Summers) and Russell Johnson (Roy Hinkley, The Professor) are still alive.
So long little buddy. If I had a flag pole, it would be at half mast just for you.
