Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
February 17th, 2005
Dam you Canon. I mean who would have thought that you would come out with an upgraded Digital Rebel? I figured the model of Rebel I bought would be the same one you made forever!
Anyways, hey at least it’s black. It’s “is more than 10% lighter and 25% smaller by volume than the Canon Rebel”, has a new 8mp sensor and a bunch of other crap. And it’s still under $1000. Whatever.

This reminds of the quote from Dave Barry:
Q: Which computer should you buy?
A: The one that comes out two weeks after you bought yours.
Q: How much should you pay?
A: $200 less than you did pay.
As a matter of fact, they should just put big dumpsters at the end of the check out so you could throw out the obsolete computers right after you paid for it.

I saw it on MacMinute Thursday, but didn’t have time to look closer at it till the weekend.
Who would’ve thought they’d come out with a camera so close to the 20D? I figured the dRebel was only in for firmware updates till the 20D has matured some and …
Back in November (had the dRebel XT / 350D existed) I’d likely have saved myself some money … or perhaps bought an extra IS lens … or who knows?
