Rear Ended
What a lovely evening I have had. I was headed back from the Dion’s Pizza near Cottonwood Mall. I was setting at the light on Coors road when SLAM! I got rear ended in my Ford Ranger. I’m fine and the persons in the car are fine. The cops showed up within several minutes (3 of them) along with 2 ambulances. I waited around for about 30 minutes while they did their thing and they all left but one. She came up and gave me the “incidence” number and sent me along my way. Lucky me I got to drive my vehicle home
The picture shows my damaged bumper and this is the extent of my damage, I got to drive my truck home. The Chevy wasn’t so lucky. the little car air bags deployed and the front end was all smashed in, leaking radiator and all. She must have been going around 40mph considering the damage she did to her car.
The collision happened in front of a car dealership and there were several people who saw it. They tell me they saw the girl messing with her cell phone.
I’ve never been in a car accident before. I can remember the moment of impact and the loudest noise I have ever heard. Now comes the PITA of dealing with the insurance companies.

If they hit you that fast, you should have gone with the ambulance. Whiplash and associated injuries are usually not apparent immediately and can should up later. (Like just being sore today.)
Unfortunanately, if you do have problems it can be very difficult now to link it back to the car accident.
Glad to hear you weren’t hurt. I’m fed up with folks using their cell phones while driving — I quit using my cell phone in the car 3 years ago. It just wasn’t worth the risk.
I don’t think that talkign to someone in the phone is any more distracting than talking to someoen else in the car, or dealing with you child in the back seat or listening to talk radio (on a topic you care about) or listening to the sports game. Cellphone use has become the scapegoat for pendemic problem of not paying attention while driving.
Cellphones aren’t helping things but I would agree. They alone are not the root cause. In fact I thought there was a study recently showing eating while driving was the #1 distraction to drivers.
Eating, smoking, calling, talking, reading a map, … fiddling with the stereo, just being pre-occupied with work/school, not having slept enough. All are common causes that contribute to accidents.
Glad to hear you’re OK, and at least you have a sturdy car.
With car (and other accidents) you have to play safe. Like Plaid Cow said, whiplash and some other injuries are not immediately apparent, but will start to show symptoms hours later with stiff neck, headaches, … Though with whiplash and other spinal cord injuries images don’t necessarely show anything.
