I Ordered The iPod Photo

October 26th, 2004 Greg Smith

Dam you Apple, dam you all to hell!!!! Why must you separate me from my money? At this rate my credit card will never get paid off.

1-2 weeks to ship is just to long. Why must you torture me in so many ways?

[Update:] It shipped on Oct 27th from Shanghai. It now shows that it arrived in Albuquerque tonight (Oct 29th). Guess I have to wait till Monday.

Buy the Apple 40 GB iPod Photo or Apple 60 GB iPod Photo from Amazon.

I always new color was coming to the iPod. Cool idea, but with regards to iPod PHOTO, two things keep going through my head with:
    1) no direct download capacity via USB cable to offload your camera on the road (forget the bulky Belkin box that needs extra batteries etc)
    2) low resolution screen. What’s Apple thinking with 220×176 pixels or 38K. This while older digital cameras have 65K pixels and newer ones 100-120K.
    To me it’s time for G2 & G3 already.
But, at least the color iPod is here :)

I suspect the iPod is capable of the direct camera download. I’m thinking that they just haven’t released the capabilities yet. I’m also expecting a new and improved card reader that will be faster and more compact.

I’m still using a first generation 10G iPod. This may be the one that finally pushes me over the edge…

I’m still using the 1gen 5gb. I believe I bought it the day it was announced and sold my Archos.

I agree that it should have that capacity. Believe the chipset in the iPod is capable of displaying video as well.
From what I read, the number one gripe is lack of direct camera download (or you have to buy the Belkin card reader peripheral)

    Am I a sucker? I just ordered the 60gig. I couldn’t help myself.

I totally got the fast shipping too – ordered it on the 30th, and it actually arrived tuesday morning, even though I didn’t pay for shipping. Wasn’t expecting it until Thanksgiving. It was certainly at least one nice thing on election day…
